Texas Flood
: The best album SRV ever made, and one of my favourite blues recordings. John Lee Hooker said that this was his favourite blues album as well. But, the new tracks could have been better. I mean, we are talking about one of the greatest blues albums of all time, they could have added some of SRV all time best live performances
He never cut a bad album, and this one is no exception. I've listened to this album over and over, and never tired of it.
if you wanna hear the greatest blues guitarist of all time then you must have this album, it is amazing
its easy to lose this album in the tidal wave of all that came after it. but like "In the beginning", this is how it all started, recorded over two nights, in an attempt to get the record deal, NOT make the record. this is the demo tape that became the record. that's what we are hearing. this is the genesis. its a little rough, a little familiar (he made no secret about his influences). i don't think originality is really what he will be remembered for. this is the equivalent of 9/11 or 11/22/63. everyone remembers where they were the first time they heard Stevie.
This remastered CD puts a fresh face on Stevie's first studio albumn. Great clarity and HUGE tone are the standard. The great DT thunder-shuffle is clear and distinct (although the bass lines sometimes get mushy), and Stevie's playing cuts through it all like a hot knife. The bonus tracks are great, and include 3 live cuts. Thanks again to Sony, Epic, and Jimmie. RAVE ON!
