A Night at the Opera
A Night at the Opera

Here are some customer reviews of Sheer Heart Attack :

Unlike the straight-ahead hard rock of the first two Queen albums, and unlike the downward spiral they would start on the follow-up, A Night At The Opera, Queen kept a focus on this recording they would not be able to repeat. Heavy Metal, ragtime, glam rock, tragic laden ballads, and great pop: An everything for everybody album that works like a charm and that few bands could pull off, even in today's genre hopping climate.

I've been into Queen for a very long time, and Sheer Heart Attack is definitely their most flawless effort, in ny opinion, with Queen II coming in a very close second. It shows their versatility, sophistication and edge without having a song sound out of place or obstentanious. It starts off with "Brighton Rock," one of their greatest rockers, which has Freddie Mercury portraying a man meeting a woman (in his trademark falsetto and masculine vocals divded between the two characters), and the awe-inspiring guitar skills of Brian May. "Now I'm here" also follows in the same path, with anthemic guitars, awesome voclas and pure energy, and "Stone Cold Crazy" set the groundwork for bands like Metallica, in terms of speed. Many of the songs are more epic and dramatic, such as "In the Lap of Gods," and "Flick of the Wrist," as well as the campy, Broadway-esque "Bring Back that Leroy Brown." Even the quick and upbeat "Misfire" is a highlight on this album. All 4 members of the band contributed very worthy songs and ideas to this album, and their talents at each of their instruments is more than obvious (though frankly, May and Mercury had the lion's share of talent in the band, in terms of performance and composition). Many people thought that their next album, A Night at the Opera, was their finest accomplishment, and Opera was a great album, but in my opinion this one was even better. All of the songs were perfect on Sheer Heart Attack, and contains many of their finest songs.

Queen is a terrific band - no one had vocal range and showmanship like Freddie Mercury!

After already putting out two amazing cds, queen came through with another gem with their third album sheer heart attack. This album was the start of a winning combination of hits and classics. from killer Queen to stone cold crazy, Queen show what they were capable of. Sheer heart attack doesn't have one bad song, instead what we have is brilliance. from flick of the wrist, and both lap of the gods, bring back that leroy brown, freddy Mercury, just like the first two albums shows he's in top form. Brian may also was in top form with now i'm here and Britain Rock. roger taylor contributes with tenament funster and
John deacon with misfire. This cd is a must have for all rock fans.

So I was stuck in a five hour traffic jam in St.Louis. It's just me, my boyfriend, and two of his co-workers. I'm stuck in the backseat with my CD player and my new Queen album. I pop the CD in. The first thing I hear is...CARNIVAL MUSIC?! What the...but then I hear Freddie's amazing falsetto and his rumbling mid-range and I'm hooked to the CD already! The song was "Brighton Rock", one of my favorite Queen songs (although the guitar solo which is the bulk of the song is sorta monotonous). This album packs a big punch of memorable Queen songs. "Brighton Rock", "Killer Queen", "Lily of the Valley, "Misfire" (my happy song and one of my favorite Deacon's), "Bring Back Leroy Brown" and "In the Lap of the Gods (Revisited)" are the highlights of this CD. Also on this CD is "Stone Cold Crazy", a song that most think was written by Metallica. But when one hears this song, it's unmistakably Queen. I garuntee all who listen to this CD will be hooked to Queen and want to buy more. I know I was!
