Shakespeare in Love (Miramax Collector's Series)
: Ok Until the end of the Movie this movie was Borin, the costumes were good but i must amit That i was very displeased when it won Best Film And for that alone I know it was rigged (arnt they all) plz don't buy this film you can rent it if you must but you will be VERY disappionted if you spend 30 bunks on this movie alas The women will love it, men I suggest That sit this one out.
First of all....I liked it (but not the first half hour). Okay, I know you are wondering what I meant by saying not the first half hour, that's because it was totally boring and I began to fall asleep. If you can last beyond the first 30 minutes, the movie picks up and you begin getting into it....but prior to that you are feeling like you did in high school when the English teacher said we are going to be reading Shakespeare this quarter. I do question how in the world they got nominated for so many Oscars, but we'll see how many they actually end up winning. If you are looking for period pieces, go see "Mrs. Brown" and "Elizabeth", which by the way share many of the same actors from this movie (do you think they got to keep their costumes?) Okay quick story review...lets follow young Bill Shakespeare as he falls in love and learns the lessons of love in order to write his classic "Romeo and Juliet". While this film was entertaining, it just isn't for everyone. Bottom line...if you are making a movie about 20 dates that you will be going on, then this definitely could be one of them.
A very, very good film. Not as good as Saving Private Ryan, but very good. I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars
Well, Joseph Fiennes and Colin Firth may be sexy as but that doesn't hide the fact that this movie is simply Romeo and Juliet all over again. Oh and that Gwyneth Paltrow did not deserve that oscar, cate blanchett was a million times better in Elizabeth. Anyhoo, who likes Clark Gable here?
I saw this movie in the theatre and I absolutely loved it. Gweneth Paltrow was fabulous as William Shakespeare's love intrest. I also thought Fiennes delivered his second remarkable performance of the year. ( Elizabeth) I was also very impressed by the small but influential parts played by Geoffery Rush and Dame Judy Dench. This is a WONDERFUL movie that deserved it's best picture oscar.
