: This movie's innocence and carefree attitude is what has led me to see it over a dozen times. It's cute how everyone can find love and have a good time, while learning about themselves. Jimmy Valentine is the biggest dork, but Carson and Pudge prove to be endearing characters. Luanne finally learns to throw caution to the wind and Melaina is a great character to love and hate at the same time. I find myself cheering for everyone. Favorite line, "Ya'll is the horniest bunch of white folk I ever did see!" -Elvira, the maid
This is one of the cheesiest, best movies ever made. I'm not ashamed to say that much of my early teen/high school years were taken up with this film. The story never grows old, and the characters never grow tiresome. A must for every collection, even if you only pull it out once every few years.
This movie was the best movie I have ever seen. It was all very innocent and desent and there are not very many of those left that you and your kids can sit down and watch together. I do believe that this one will be around for a very long time.. Thank You samleecall@hotmail.com

Shag is not only a good movie--it has great 60's music. I play it over and over as I exercise because it gets you in such a happy, energetic mood. The theme throughout is the Old South tradition: Phebe Cates has always done everything right, reared properly and walked the straight and narrow looking down her nose at most. One line that stays in my mind is when a mother makes a remark about Pudge, "that couldn't be Pudge, she's pretty--Pudge is fat!" So much is still true today, but it's an entertaining movie that makes you laugh and a sweet love story!
