Shadows Are Security
: I'm a very selective person when it comes to hardcore or any kind of metal. Bands that are really popular like Shadows Fall and In Flames don't really do the trick for me. I can never really figure out why that is but it just is. When a friend introduced me to As I Lay Dying's 94 Hours I fell in love because they make some of the catchiest metal ever but it's still hard to the core. I was crazy excited when I heard a couple of their new songs in a store and when I got the cd I was blown away. The complaint I had on Frail Words Collapse was the slower songs which were really their weakest moments, this cd throws any mellowness out the window and goes full throttle with every song. THERE ISN'T A BAD SONG ON THIS CD. And I always find a song or two to dislike on any cd no matter how good it is. But what truely makes this band unique is how talented they are, where as a normal metal band would go by the usual song formula As I Lay Dying breaks down their songs two or three times and changes up the melodies just as much in a single song. As I Lay Dying are the kings in my book.
im actually impressed.the guitar playing has definately tightened up a bit. the vocals also have more variety, and are less boring than frail words collapse.
this cd is just as brutal and amazing as frail words collapse. tim has the best scream out there today, and they have one of the best metal drummers out there. the drumming, guitars, and vocals are all much better and improved. There is even some is some singing which adds to the beauty, dont hesitate to buy this. and if u want an even bigger treat, get there other cd, frail words collapse! laters
for those of you who didnt know this...AILD is a christian band...they dont where makeup...there not "scene"...and they dont write about breakups or how much there gf hates them and how much they hate themselves...instead there message is about surviving life and learning the usual things that anyone else would throughout life...and no they dont preach...the drums are still amazing...they new guitartist adds a little more fine tunning to there riffs...and the vocals are great as usual..and yes they may be a "god band"...but if you pass this album up just becuase of that...then im sorry
As i lay dying have stepped up to the plate and hit a home run with Shadows Are Security. This cd sounds alot more polished than their previous album, the guitars sound perfect and the drums will still beat you to death.Tims scream/growl is still there, but they have added (dare i say) some melody. On tracks (2)Confined and (4)The darkest nights, they are heavy but almost have a "catchy and melodic" edge to them, this makes the songs that much better. This cd is in a tie for me for album of the year, along with Soilwork "stabbing the drama" and Agony Scene "the darkest red". This cd is a must for any metal/hardcore fan. Stay METAL \m/
