Here are some customer reviews of Shades of Purple : I GOT THIS FOR MY FRIENDS BIRTHDAY, LISTENED TO IT ONCE AND NEED TO BUY IT FOR MYSELF! IT IS A GREAT CD :) This is the greatest CD ever. Basicly every song is brilliently written and performed. The girls themselves are extreamly talented, more so than any other of there peers (ie. Britney), as they can actually write and perform there own songs. The album is a mix of many styles, and thus can't really be catogorised. Songs such as "Pretty Boy" and "Dear Diary" are slow, but then there are other songs such as "Do you know what you want" and "The Feeling is Gone" (Australia Only) which are fast and, funky(is that the write word?). Unfortunatly this CD dose not have the broad apeal of many other teen pop stars, (is this because they have talent?) and so is'nt going to top the charts. Anyway, this is an exelent album, and anyone sick of all the manufactured acts around should buy it. THIS IS THE BRIGHTEST PIECE OF MUSIC I HAVE EVER HEARD. NOT ONLY DOES M2M DELIVER ROMANTIC POP MUSIC, BUT IT ALSO BRINGS FORTH GOTHIC-LIKE UP-TEMPOS THAT MAKE YOU THINK ABOUT LIFE AND LOVE. I LOVED IT AND NOT ONCE DID I REGRET BUYING THIS ALBUM. I GUARANTEE THAN ANY POP-ROCK FAN WILL LOVE THIS CD. IT'S THE BEST, IN MY OPINION. To the mainstream, this cd will not be popular. There are only 2 or 3 radio songs max. But if you want a real production and not a studio cd like you get with Ms. Spears, then this is the cd. These young girls have so much talent. I look for bigger and better things from them in the future. Undoubtedly everyone has heard the Pokemon single 'Dont Say You Love Me'. If you couldn't get enough of this song then you will love 'Shades of Purple'. The album is full of 'soft pop' tracks which will have you singing away to in no time. The melodic pop-tunes are catchy and clever. The teen duo from Norway have succeeded in producing one of the finest pop albums of the year...so far. 1. Don't Say You Love Me - Not what you would expect on the soundtrack to a child's animated movie, but this song is brilliant. 5/5 2. The Day You Went Away - Fantastic, mid-tempo song. The lyrics are nice, and the song is just beautiful. By far the best on the album. 5/5 3. Girl In Your Dreams - A slower song, and takes a little while to warm up, but the bridge and chorus are beautiful. 4/5 4. Mirror Mirror - Interesting beginning, and lyrics that we can all relate to at times. The tune is catchy and I believe this will do well as follow-up single to 'Dont Say You Love Me'. 4.5/5 5. Pretty Boy - A slow and 'pretty' track. Nice song, but is lacking something. 3/5 6. Give A Little Love - The vocals on this track sound a little weak at times, but this is a song that will grow on you the more you hear the catchy chorus. 3.5/5 7. Everything You Do - An upbeat, sing-a-long to track. It's got a typical pop sound to it, but a great track. 4.5/5 8. Don't Mess With My Love - The beginning reminds me of something you'd hear out of Ally McBeal. Nice mid-up tempo track. 4/5 9. Dear Diary - One of the weaker songs on the album. It's nice, but doesn't really build up to anything special. 2.5/5 10. Do You Know What You Want - Something slightly different. It's a little boring, the chorus has a Hanson sound to it. 2/5 11. Smiling Face - Quite a decent mid-tempo song. After a couple not so good tunes, this one picks the album up. 3.5/5 12. Our Song - Again, you can't resist but like the chorus. Even the weaker songs of M2M, all have great choruses, and will have you singing away to. This is another of those tracks. 3.5/5 13. Why - A slower song that builds it's way up, but doesn't quite reach what you'd hope for. Overall an above average track. 3.5/5 14. The Feeling Is Gone (Bonus Track) - I'm not sure why this wasn't a track on all versions of'Shades of Purple'. It's a more upbeat track, and would have suited this pop album more than perhaps a few of the other songs. It's a great song. 4/5 Overall, this album is a fantastic pop album, and if you liked 'Dont Say You Love Me' this is a very safe choice. You will without a doubt love most if not all tracks. It's the perfect album to listen to when you just want to relax and chill out. This album spells 'talent'. Marion and Marit who make up M2M are credited for most of the song-writing, vocal arrangements and even percussion and guitar on some tracks. These two young girls will go a long way, and 'Shades of Purple' is just the beginning.
