Here are some customer reviews of Ride the Lightning :

This one of the best cds ever!!

...On this album Metallica is showing people that the impact of Kill 'Em All was no mistake, they are saying that they are here to stay, from beginning to finish you could listen to this album all the way through and never get bored.

The album starts with an Acoustic Guitar playing a ballady type riff, than it blows up, pounding drums, roaring guitars, James Hetfield growling all over the place, Fight Fire With Fire is a great opener to a great Metallica album. The title track comes in with a fast lick featuring Rhythm and Lead guitars fighting for power, than it goes into the main riff with James Hetfield singing about capitol punishment, a great song. For Whom the Bell Tolls is the next track, and it is one of the most well written songs in the history of Heavy Metal, starting with roaring Power Chords, and Cliff Burtons bass comes in, than the main riff, its a classic song. Fade to Black is the bands first ballad, and its easily the best song on the album, James Hetfield sings about suicide, while the rest of the band plays a nice little guitar part in the back, than it blows into a signature Metallica sound, with an awesome Hammet solo to end it. Trapped Under Ice is the next song, and its about being Trapped Under Ice, its a good song as well, but not as good as the rest of the songs. Escape is the only possible piece of filler, but I like it, its about Escaping from somewhere, and has a nice mood to it. Creeping Death is the next song, a huge concert attraction because of the interaction that always takes place between Band and Fans, the song is about Moses leading the Hebrew slaves away from the Egyptian Pharoh. Call of Ktulu is the songs closer, and a great instrumental number it is, exciting the whole way through, great song.

So in the end, Ride the Lightning is worth every penny you would pay for it, the first of many classic albums that Metallica released, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fade to Black and Creeping Death are still played at every live show the band does, and rightfully so, but still, Ride the Lightning does not equal up to the masterpiece that is Master of Puppets, but it sure comes close.

Dio are famous for thier special style and this title is really nice and has no single poor song.

This is one the best Metallica albums someone can have.

The heavy and fast "Fight fire with Fire" start things in a total speed Metal way.

"For Whome the Belltolls" is a little slower and easier to play, yet again, very heavy ...!

"Fade To Black" is the ballad everyone knows. Very great done and arranged.

The rest of the album is just simply awesome Metal, eventhough, the masterpiece of the album is at the end "The Call of Ktulu" is definitely Metallica at it's best.

Just gotta have it. Metallica doesn't make records like this anymore and this was the base of Metallica's next albums MOP and AJFA.

Highlights: "The Call OF Ktulu", "Fight Fire with Fire"

Ride The Lighting, exactly as Kill 'Em All and Master Of Puppets, is well worth a 10 rating. The songs in here are great, as well as the lyrics. The second song, which gives the name to the album, is against the death punishment. Fade To Black is probably the best Metallica ballad and Creeping Death is the symbol of this album.
