Here are some customer reviews of
Ricky Nelson Sings
: I just finished watching this DVD for the third time. It was great!!! However....while watching it for the third time, I REALLY got tired of watching his kids. It was good to hear all of their stories and to let them "vent" their feelings, but after a while I got the feeling that they had as much film time as their father, and I didn't purchase this to see them. Their interviews might have been better as the bonus extras, or maybe not as long. Even with this as a negative, it did my heart good to watch Ricky. Oh, how I've missed him. 5 stars for the amazing talent of Ricky Nelson.
It was great seeing these clips again after all these years.
A good time was had by all!
RICKY NELSON IS ONE OF THE TRUE GREAT PIONEERS OF ROCK & ROLL AND HAS BEEN UNDERRATED FOR A LONG TIME, ESPECIALLY SINCE HIS DEATH IN 1985. HE HAD NOT ONLY THE STYLE BUT ALSO THE SUBSTANCE TO GO WITH IT. THE EXTRA INTERVIEWS AND PERFORMANCES BY RICKY'S SONS AND HIS SOLO GUITARIST FROM THE 50'S AND 60'S, JAMES BURTON, ARE ALSO GREAT.
IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT THE OZZIE & HARRIET PERFORMANCES HAVE FINALLY BECOME WIDELY AVAILABLE ON DVD.
MAYBE NOW THE TRIBUTE, "RICK NELSON: A BROTHER REMEMBERS", THAT DAVID NELSON MADE IN 1986 SHORTLY AFTER THE PLANE CRASH THAT TOOK RICKY'S LIFE WILL BE RELEASED ON DVD.
This is a great DVD for anyone. If you are Rick Nelson fan, you will definitely want this for your collection. The song selections as well as the parts including his children make this DVD very special.
Ricky Nelson was one of the all time greats in Rock & Roll history. A lot of folks don't remember him, and alot have forgotten what a big star he was. He sold lots of records, but his television singing was somewhat limited. His dad, Ozzie, refused Ed Sullivan's offer, and only allowed him to sing on The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet. Nevertheless, Ricky was a big star, and this collection showcases some great songs. He always had a great band behind him that featured Rock & Roll Hall of Famer James Burton himself.
Only buy this DVD if you like REAL rock & roll!
