Here are some customer reviews of Retaliation : This is a very funny cd. It has a lot of one-liners and is very entertaining. I would say it is funnier than Harmful if Swallowed. HOWEVER, if it was just as long as Harmful, Harmful would be better. Because there are SO MANY JOKES and the CD is over 100 minutes long, it basically has to be funnier.. This is a very funny cd tho, nonetheless. But, and this is a pretty big but, Harmful was one of those cd's you could listen and listen and listen and listen and listen to and it would never get boring, never get old, even if you've memorized it. Retaliation is different. You listen to it twice or so and it's not really funny anymore. However, this cd is very funny and I reccomend picking it up. You know those really annoying, loud, raucous jocks/frat boys that you knew in college or high school who prayed openly to the God of Attention and seemed to get all the girls you couldn't? Well, you'd be a fool not to admit those guys definitely could make you laugh at times. This is Dane Cook's routine. A loud and boisterous 30 something frat boy who occasionally is damn good at what he does(The reference to Tekken 3 made me smile). The guy has plenty of energy which is a plus, but his shtick does wear itself out after a while. This guy isn't so much of a social commentary comedian like Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks(my personal favorites). Rather, he's the loud guy who came over to your domitory with a case full of beer and goofy grin. Not amazing, but not unfunny. You should check out his classic Tom Cruise impression as well Dane Cook has yet to disappoint me! This new CD/DVD is nonstop laughter. He is insane, in a rock 'n' roll way. Watching Dane perform is almost as satisfying as listening to a great rock band! I'm glad the DVD included the Shorties Watching Shorties on the DVD, those always left me cry-laughing in the floor! Over all this new CD/DVD is just as good as Harmful if Swallowed if not a bit better, but then again how can you get any better!! Honestly I haven't listened to the entire CD. Just snippets but I've seen his act on TV before. Just doesn't really impress me. I am a hard critic, I admit. Most of today's comics don't impress me, with the exception of the recently deceased Mitch Hedberg. This guy just kind of comes across as the loud obnoxious frat guy trying to be funny and impress everybody at the party to impress chicks. I'd be willing to give this whole CD a shot but I don't think I'm willing to buy it. I really have to say most comedians out there now don't seem very impressive to me. I was really bummed out when I found out Hedberg passed away, he was the only guy I really liked out there now. I had heard that Dane Cook was becoming really popular and his CDs were outselling Steve Martin's?!? I'm sorry but this dude doesn't hold a candle to Let's Get Small and Wild and Crazy Guy. I think a lot of teenagers and college age people probably think he's funny and young chicks probably think he's cute. I can't see a lot of people 40 and up really digging this guy. I don't want to sound harsh, in the words of Dennis Miller (who sadly in his prime only put out one live album) "That's just my opinion, I could be wrong." I have to admit, I got bored with Harmful if Swallowed. It wasn't a bad cd. It's just I could perform the whole cd, I'd listened to it SO MANY TIMES. This one, It won't get old for a while. I just ran out to K-mart and bought it, paid a bit much but,...well nevermind. I didn't pay too much. I'd pay any amount of money for a dane cook cd.
