Here are some customer reviews of Requiem for a Dream (2000 Film) :

The movie, mixed with these perfect sounds, will produce dramatic effects on any viewer. Darron Aronofsky is now the "Picasso" of film industry, with respects to Bill Viola (another film genius). Everything is supurb. No less.

This soundtrack is of criminally short length. Over half the tracks are just a tease when they could've been so much more. Many will start out like they are whole songs, but seem to be cut prematurely when they're actually not. The longer tracks are absolutely beautiful, and they make you realize what the short tracks COULD'VE been if they were extended past the 30 second mark. I can't believe the longest track on here is only about 3 minutes and 45 seconds long. There's nothing bad about the instrumentation or composition at all; the only glaringly huge problem is that the majority of the songs are over before you know it. Also, I disagree with the reviewer who said the 'Conga' songs don't fit the rest of the album. Personally, I think they're a bit on the nightmarish side because they seem like they should be upbeat but they're somehow not. The 'Conga' songs have a weird underlying creepiness that's hard to pinpoint; it reminds me of something that should be fun but ends up going out of control. Since I've never seen the film to this soundtrack but know its premise, I'm guessing these are the parts where of the characters are tripping, but I could be wrong. Anyway, the songs are five-star quality, but be prepared to be disappointed because most are so short. If you like this soundtrack, check out the "Insomnia" soundtrack by David Julyan; it's a bit on the depressing side as well, but then again, people don't listen to this kind of stuff to feel happy.

3.5 stars

The score stands alone! It's a haunting, thrilling, and ultimately chilling experience akin to Radiohead's 'OK COMPUTER' and Bjork's "All is full of Love". While not something to be listened to one track at a time, collectively, it's a wonderfully heart-bearing experience.

This is the only soundtrack of any movie that actually induces emotion.

You don't even need to see the movie to appreciate this music.

If you liked the Radiohead tribute album "Strung out on OK Computer" you will love the use of strings.

Haunting.

I don't want to go into detail. Just see the movie (if you can stomach it) and buy the score, now! Even if you don't see the film the score is worth listening to. I just bought it a few hours ago and it's been repeating on my stereo ever since.
