Reprise
: what an album!!.....russell is the best and nobody does it better than him!!....
Shame to Russell Watson and his record company! They never should have release anything as substandard as this appalling cd! Frankly, I have never heard any vocal recording that is even half as bad. None of the tracks are satisfactorily performed. All, however, feature absolutely terrible singing that is strident and inaccurate in delivery. One really has to listen to this recording to realise that singing can be as bad as this! An absolutel horror! Not recommended at all.
There is almost nothing to praise about this recording. Musically, it is bad. Very bad, actually. Russell Watson has failed to do the music justice, and his strained renditions are unpleasant. He also doesn't seem to know what he is singing, for his delivery is monotonous. One of the worst recordings that I've ever heard.
While my preference is for a equal mix of classical, pop, etc music such as the great Encore CD that Russell Watson put out last year, this is a solid collection of 13 tracks. While the album relies mainly on classical and semi-classical songs Watson's tenor voice shows more power and sensitivity. This CD includes a good share of popular Neopolitan classics, such as Santa Lucia, Granada, and Torna a Surriento. The nice thing is that in picking these songs they paid attention to the songs and not just the titles. Granted, if you have an extensive collection of Watson albums in your music library then you probably have all of these tracks already, but instead of putting together a classical collection like this yourself you can just pick up this one. If you have discovered an affinity for Watson's classical or semi-classical voice, then that would be another good reason to pick up REPRISE
"Reprise", what wonderful album. This man can sing, and how. Chalk it up as another successful album. It's great to listen to this fine singer whether he's singing opera, pop, or rock, not an easy thing to do. An amazing talent, you'll love Watson.
