Planet Sleeps
: We use this CD almost every day with our three-month old son. We will skip some songs, but we LOVE many of the cuts, and like that we are exposing our son to music and language from all over the world.
The songs are fine on their own and the album has its merits in the diversity of the songs but I dont think these are lullabies at all. The one track from India is definitely not one. The flow is not good. Some of the tracks are jarring.
My wife and I picked up this CD several months before our son (who is now 21 months old) was born. It is sooooo relaxing that it took quite awhile before we could listen to it without falling asleep about halfway through. After Jimmy was born, The Planet Sleeps became part of his naptime/bedtime routine and I don't think it's ever failed to lead him gently to sleep. However, now that I've been able to stay awake on many occasions to hear the whole CD, I can attest to the fact that it's more than a nice sleep-inducing device. It's transcendantly beautiful music that will take you to a very peaceful and inspiring place, if you let it.
The moment I put this CD a wonderful exotic but soft air starts in the house: my daughter gets calmer, she understand its sleeping time, we get cuddly, I try to sing along even if I don't know the words, its melodious. Shortly its a wonderful CD to buy!
I enjoy sharing world music with my baby. she prefers this cd to all the others. it is pleasing to the ears... so incredibly diverse and playful..different than any other lullabies i have heard thus far. enjoy!!
