Here are some customer reviews of Planet Law School II: What You Need to Know (Before You Go), But Didn't Know to Ask... and No One Else Will Tell You, Second Edition :

Planet Law School is the most realistic account of law school. Anyone applying to or attending law school should read it.

I am just finishing my first year of law school and I am glad I read this book before I started. I have read many "pre-law" books and "Planet Law School" provided the most realistic and down-to-earth information for the 1L experience! I am still utilizing the book and will refer to its sections on the 2L and 3L years as I progress. Thank you Atticus Falcon, whoever you are!

I've finished nearly three years of law school, and I just happened across this book. I wish it had been available to me before. (I did pretty well, at a very highly ranked law school, but I think I'd have done even better with it beforehand.) It's dead-on target about the realities of law school -- realities that I wouldn't even have realized a year ago. It's excellent: a must-read book. There's advice and resources you won't find anywhere else.

There is some useful information in this book. Primarily the sections which refer you to other pre-law-school books and study aids. That information buys it two stars.

Unfortunately the rest of the book is not as helpful. There is far too much space devoted to (1) how smart the author is (2) how much he dislikes his life as a lawyer and (3) how you can become just like him.

I felt that Law School Confidential was much better, it contains more useful information and less depressingly cynical commentary....

If you're trying to talk yourself out of going to law school, then this is the book to read. Planet Law School is nothing more than a forum for an extremely bitter former law student to express his obviously painful memories. He takes such a ruthlessly negative look at law school that he can't even use his real name, presumably out of fear of those who might ridicule his whimpering. He claims to be giving you the "real story, what those other books on law school won't give you." Instead, he whines pathetically about the supposed invalidity of the Socratic Method, how "professors are not on your side," and how the law school experience is filled with drudgery and makework, all of which are part of some grand conspiracy to keep law students ignorant and law professors employed. The only redeeming quality of this book is that it has a thorough compendium of resources for commercial study materials. I recommend this book to anyone who needs reasons NOT to go to law school.
