This collection of B-sides/cut tracks is an incredible document of SP's creativity and range of musicianship, just as good if not better than other band's main releases! This band is so good, even the stuff they cut is gold! Unfortunately, this record must be compared with their other stuff, and as good as it is they have better records out their.... As good as this album is, I recommend that you don't buy it until you have Siamese Dream, Melancholy or even Machina under your belt (and in your collection! =) ) -but when you do, run, don't walk, to your record store and get this disc!!! this is an excellent cd full of old songs corgan and gang wrote i admit that its not as good as MCIS and SD but its one of the greatest cds ever put together Despite the fact that they are b-sides these songs are really good and have all the qualities of classic smashing pumpkins songs. Landslide is a cover but probably one of the sweetest and most heartfelt songs the pumpkins have done and they've done quite a few of those. Starla is the obligatory 10 minute epic of this album and it is just as good as the other ones. If you aren't sure about picking this one up, take my word for it, you won't regret it. I love a lot of the Pumpkins music, but most of the metal stuff they do leaves me pretty cold. Some of their best slow, contemplative work is on here--Soothe, Whir, and the Landslide cover for example--and Blew Away is a terrific mid-tempo pop-rock song. Frail and Bedazzled is a great kick-ss rock song, up there with the Siamese Dream singles. My favorite tape is a Pumpkins mix I put together with some of these songs, a lot of the great non-metal Mellon Collie songs (1979, Stumbleine, etc.), and some of the Mellon Collie B-sides. END
