Mother's Milk
: Excellent album that covers a range of different sounds. Good in its entirety.
the old funk of chili peppers untill these rereleases i was unable to find, and i thank EMI for rerealeases. these are fun to listen to, i recommend Magic Johnson and Punk Rock Classic and Pritty Little Ditty.
this is the first chili peppers album i bought and its definetley what got me into them.the way they seamlessly blend funk, rock, metal and other types of music is a true testament to them.the soaring vocals of anthony kiedis, crunching drumming of chad smith, funkified bass work by flea and john frusciante's smooth guitar work all blend and create a great album.high points......"SUBWAY TO VENUS","STONE COLD BUSH",JOHNNY...KICK A HOLE IN THE SKY"
I bought all 4 reissues and this is definetly the best. Track 17 is an amazing jam. It's worth the price just for that. the new 24 bit remastering makes everything sound so much crisper. the extended version of "Sexy Mexican Maid" is great. it's a great piece of funk without the reverb. I've owned all the originals, but felt compelled to pick these reissues up. This years their 20th anniversary, and their's no better way to celebrate than to rediscover these classics. But where is "show me your soul?
This is probably the best prior album for BSSM to follow up to. Sure not all of the tracks are masterpieces, but tracks like "taste the pain" and "sexy mexican maid" give you a taste of some of the funkiest music written and what is to come on their next album
