Here are some customer reviews of Mother Love Bone :

BEFORE PEARL JAM,ANDREW WOOD WAS A ARTIST MOTHER LOVE BONE WAS HIS CANVIS! HEROIN TAKES ANOTHER STAR ...WILL IT EVER STOP!!!THE MUSIC ON THESE CDS IS ONE OF A KIND SMOKE A JOINT AND LISTEN TO ANDREW PREACH!!!

By now, most know the story of Mother Love Bone. Loquacious singer Andy Wood died of a heroin overdose and members Jeff Ament(bass) and Stone Gossard(guitars) went on to form Pearl Jam. Wood's obvious charisma comes through on everyone of these tracks, as a wise-cracking, sometimes sentimental master of ceremonies. Had he lived, a comedy career could have been in the cards following music. On "Half Ass Monkey Boy" he asks if anyone wants a taste of his "beef swellington." The questioning "Mr.Danny Boy" has his dad asking if Wood's gay, while extolling his adoration for the glam of T-Rex. Wood was definitely an old school frontman; sort of a cross between Ted Nugent and David Lee Roth. Luckily, his filthy humor isn't all the band had going for it. Gossard and fellow guitarist Andy Fairweather rip off riff after riff of Zeppelin worship. "Stardog Champion" shows Jimmy Page's open string ideas in full view and the dynamics of "Bone China" would sound right at home on "Physical Grafitti." Wood's piano compositions, "Gentle Groove" and "Chloe Dancer" slow things down and are among the strongest songs here, showing a glimpse into what could have been.

This is, indeed, the best album in my entire collection. Bruce and Stone work together like no other guitarists have, before or after. Andrew's vocals are a welcome addition to the intoxicating sounds that these two can make. A sure treat to listen to for the last 7 years.

I like this album, a lot, Mother Love Bone would've been huge if Andrew Wood hadn't died of a drug OD ending the band and starting Pearl Jam. I love Pearl Jam a lot, and I think they are one of the best bands today. Kudos to Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden for being better than Nirvana!

This band is awesome, there's a lot of soul that just grabs you into the music, and makes you love it the first day you have it.
