Here are some customer reviews of Monsters & Robots :

I had high hopes for Buckethead after all the glowing reviews I've read of COLMA and MONSTERS. So I repeat -- are you all insane? This is one of the dullest discs ever wrought by a man in a plastic facemask. I don't know how many of the sounds you hear are made by a guiter, but I DON'T CARE! Outside of one interesting drum effect (track 3 or 4) there isn't an interesting musical moment to be found here. Brian May played more exciting guitar back in 1974, people. Boring, boring, boring. The only good part of this disc is the hole in the middle.

This album is a nice thematic culmination of Buckethead's solo works from Bucketheadland through Colma ('92~'98). If you feel like you can get just one Buckethead album (for now, at least), this is the one to get. It seems all the things that Buckethead's been working on since exploding onto the world back in '92 with Praxis' Transmutations comes together into a nice cohesive whole on this wonderful album. There are still a few disjointed stuff here and there that'll leave you thinking, "Why in the hell did he do THAT?", but overall, it's a great album showcasing the variety of talents that Buckethead has. The guitar playing is typically superb and mind-boggling but fits in nicely within the context of the songs, which is ultimately the most important thing. Production is excellent and the contributions from Les Claypool and Brain lend a real band feel. This is a great MUSIC album and goes well beyond the narrow shred-guitar genre often identified with the stuff from the Shrapnel label.

Well, I just bought the CD today...and it rules. I loved EVERY single track especially Nun chucka Kata, and can't get enough of it. Buy this CD.

This Cd is the closest thing that Buckethead has seen to fame, because his sound does not translate well to mainstream music, and because he does not like to do the whole team up thing that made most other instrument only artists famous. He shows on this album that he can really jam, he blends strange and utterly bizarre lyrics(if that is what you want to call the talking samples) I dont know what the future will hold for the Bucket because if you look at his past, even as recently as COLMA you will see that he has taken an almost 180 degree rotation from what he used to make. He has a few side projects going right now that most people dont know about Cobra Strike The 13th Scroll, Deli Creeps can be downloaded on Mp3s on places such as Napster, and check out his stuff he did on Octave and the Holy Inocents. I am a huge fan, I think that this is one of his weaker CDs and I still love it, this goes to show just how awesome Buckethead is, get this CD.

If you buy 2 albums in Oct/Nov 99, make them Primus' Antipop and this one, Monsters & Robots.

This album is awesome. It's a fusion of many styles and many players... from Bootsy's laid back vocals, to Buck's shredded guitar oblivion, to Les & Brain's tight grooves, this album is a feast for the senses.
