Here are some customer reviews of
Momentum
: Toby made a great work and proved he is the backbone of dctalk. He is the element of cohesion of the group's sound variety. He knows how to use "hip-hop sterotypes" in his own way, getting unusual effects (how about latin hip-hop...) I do luv his hard rap/rock songs like Yours and Momentum, they remind Jesus Freak. Don't need mention the hit Extreme Days. His lyrics are honest, compelling and touching. Sure those are some reasons for USA Today said this album was a "Notable Debut".
Toby is awesome! This album is such a new twist and shows toby's great talent! all the songs are awesome and each is different. This is DEFINITELY a worthwhile album to buy! you'll love it!
Of the three dc solo releases, I thought I would like this one the least. I WAS WRONG! This, IMO, is the best one. KMax's is good, too, but this one is a just a little bit better. I especially loved TruDog, cause it made me think of my 3 year old girl, lol. I can't say that rap/hip hop is my favorite type of music, but even still, Toby broke it off right!! : ) If you are a fan of dc Talk, go ahead and purchase this cd. You will love it.
O.K., so its not my kind of music but my twelve year old son loves this cd. Toby Mac really rocks on this cd. My son plays it over and over. My favourite parts of the cd are the special effects, such as the synthesized voice, and the recording of his son. My son likes heavy metal, and hard rock, and rap. I would much prefer that my son listens to this cd at top volume, than many artist heard on mainstream radio.
For those of you who started liking DC Talk back when they were a rap group will like this album. Toby M. obviously loves rap and Momentum shows that he still has the skills to to a great rap song. I wonder what kind of input he had into the Supernatural ablum, which had no rap in it. Most songs are a mixture of rap/rock, with a lot of heavy guitar, while a few are on the softer side. I think it is a shame that dc talk doesn't get more secular exposure. I know they tried it with Jesus Freak, but Toby Mac has the talent to sell records in any genre. I like about 5 of the songs on the CD, but all of them are high quality. This is a must have for a DC talk fan.
