: I have tried a number of the recipes from this book and they have turned out well everytime.It's a greatbook and I've recommended it to quite a few of my friends who like Indian cooking.
I have only had time to make one dish so far,and it was fantastic. I was able to obtain all the needed spices for it locally. I will certainly be using it often. It is a well written and easy to understand book. I am going to enjoy this immensley. R.Henry
I have had many indian cookbooks and none are as good as this. It calls for things that I can find without taking a trip to india, and most often at the supermarket. The recipies are well instructed and very easy to follow.
so i've owned a copy of this book since i went away to college. the pages are ripped, splattered, stained and folded, so briefly: this is a great cookbook. sometimes i just like reading jaffrey's writing for fun because its clear she loves indian food. her instructions are clear, concise and imaginative. i couldnt even pick out a favourite recipe because over the years i;ve tried them all. if you've never tried indian food, this book will get you going. even if you fancy yourself an expert, it never hurts to have Ms Jaffrey in your court.
We bought the original BBC book in 1982, and have used it virtually every month since then. If you enjoy the delights of indian cuisine - then you life will not be complete without this book.
