Here are some customer reviews of Madden NFL 06 :

I am a huge fan of both the PSP and Madden. The combination of Madden on the PSP was a matched made in heaven, until I played it.

The game play is decent, it feels like Madden and is fun. Its fun until you run into all the bugs. Most I could live with, but it actually causes PSP to shut down. This is unacceptable, and as of today (9/29/05) Electronic Arts (the publisher of the game) has not offered any solution. I would stay far away from this game.

What could be better than authentic Madden football on the go? Not much, as it turns out. Madden 2006 for the PSP succeeds and thrives in the most important facets. It plays an entertaining, engrossing game of football, with all the color, feel and strategic depth the series is known for. It all translates relatively well to Sony's handheld system; playing the game there is virtually the same core experience as playing on a home console. Franchise mode is even available, where you can take your team through multiple seasons. I've read reports about players suffering a system-crashing bug somewhere during franchise mode, but fortunately that never happened to me. The visuals--albeit a shade below PlayStation 2 levels--are impressive enough, offering a level of detail and depth not seen before in a football game on a mobile system. The audio features the standard spattering of supposedly hip EA Sports tracks during menu screens, and during the game the sounds of the field (helmets and pads clashing and players grunting) come alive, with the John Madden/Al Michaels tandem overlaying everything with their legendary--if a bit obvious--commentary.

On the downside, overall loading times are excruciatingly long. And there are frequent, stuttering loading pauses during between-play actions, such as post play animations and play calling. There are also hiccups during actual gameplay, when there is a fumble, interception or a fair catch called for, as well as occasionally when audibles or hot routes are barked out at the line of scrimmage. It can be somewhat disconcerting at first, but after you've played 10 or 15 games you tend to get used to it; it doesn't have too much negative impact on the overall experience. The frame rate gets somewhat choppy at times, and that does lead to some frustrations--namely, trying to align players in the open field for receptions or tackles can become problematic. It was also a minor disappointment to find that there was no replay feature in the game at all, and that post play camera angles rarely zoomed in close akin to the console versions. Some odd audio bugs surfaced as well, in the form of crowd sounds being conspicuously absent during the introductory portion of a game, and Al Michaels sometimes offering comments that are not applicable to a given situation.

Still, the good far outweighs the iffy here. This is as good as football gets right now for portable systems. Madden 2006 for the PSP is a solid effort with an authentic feel, if a bit frayed around the edges. With a few enhancements and corrections, next year's Madden 2007 for the PSP will hopefully raise the bar even higher.

I agree with what the others have said about this game. Very buggy. The worst of it is that the game freezes up and shuts down by itself, so if you don't save periodically in the middle of a game you can lose an entire game you've played. Also, online play is almost impossible. I have yet to connect to someone and get through even an entire quarter. And it shows i have a strong signal.

Ok I a bigtime online user for ea sports...I must admit this game is very bad for online play. It boots you out of almost every game you play. after every play you have to sit there and wait for the game to continue because it freezes. so one game may take you up to two hours to complete depending on the Lagging. It's messed up when you play a two hour game just to get disconnected at the end... even if you're winning 100 - 0, you still get a loss and a DNF %, this is the dumbest online game ever. Do Not waste your money on this dumb game, wait until ea get's off their behinds and make online gaming work.

I am VERY disappointed!!!!!!!!!I had much higher expectations of this game. EA Sports did not deliver as advertised. Don't get me wrong, I love my psp, BUT...if I'm paying the same price for what I paid for the PS2 version, I have the same expectations. The game has too many delays and pauses in the game play and it does not have the some of the key features I enjoy on the psp version. I am a ten (plus) year madden player and I've got to say, if sony expects to keep people interested and buying the psp line, they are going to have to do much better than this. I hope the gta game that is coming out in october is a helluva lot better than what they delivered for madden.
