Here are some customer reviews of
Lyfe 268-192
: My husband introduced this artist to me and it was truly a blessing. I was starting to give up on R&B and real artist who were not afraid to express themselves through their music. Lyfe also has a nice silky voive which blends over the tracks very well. He should also be recogized for the various topics on his CD. This is truly the best CD I have heard since Anthony Hamilton....
If your a poetic kind of person, then this album is just for you. It has none stop and feel of a poet and it's as real as it gets. It's an album you sit down with a few real friends and have playing in the back round.
Tracks to really listen to are:
3:Must be nice - the most realistic track on the album
4:The way I feel about you - Play this for your special someone
7:Hypothetically(Erin)- down to earth
9:Greedy - Play for the real gold diggers and shady people
10:Stick up kid - as real of a song as it gets
Overall it's a go get album. Every track is a must listen to. The album is a classic.
One of the best albums I've heard in a really long time. I put in a category with Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, Anthony Hamilton and Badu. If you like serious soul music, you have to have this cd.
Lyfe has really laid it down with this cd. I originally saw him on "Apollo" and he performed "Cry" and oh my GOD! The hairs stood up on my arms when he sung that song! My first thought was "He is Badddd!" His voice was so gritty and it was like nothing that I had ever heard. I knew that he was going to be recognized for his amazing talent. I didn't know that he had a cd until I read "Game Over" by TuShonda Whitaker and they kept mentioning it. But, when I found out, it was a done deal. Matter of fact, one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. If you don't know, please know, that "Lyfe 268-192" is the bomb! It's the shizit! It is all that! Don't hate, but please congratulate! Lyfe, I wish you continued blessings in the form of success! Do you brother!
Saw him live on tour with musiq. Lyfe was singing and playin his guitar with his 3 male back up singers. Couldnt hear them because his voice was so powerful. The instruments and music to the cd are wonderful and the tracks are mostly produced by LYFE. Favorite tracks: "must be nice" which is a song about love, "the way i feel about you," "made up my mind" "Greedy" "cry.""My life" (all of them!)
On the track "cry" the piano kinda takes you to church and his voice alongside the guitar are complimentary. "Greedy" is about his girl (or ex girl) getting comfortable at the bottom and trying to get all that he has for child support when she isnt supporting herself. This song has an uptempo quick catchy beat.
If i could compare him to anyone, it would be bilal because of the feeling that he sings with. Stepping away from comparisons; Lyfe has a style of his own. You can hear the soul coming through his voice. On his cd he sings about the hypocritical nature of Church folks, relationship up and downs, his run-ins with the law, "baby mama drama," and growing up. (a little bit of everything)
"26 years and 17 days" he sings "They say it will be a waste of time to pray, they said im going to hell anyway." THis song and "made up my mind" are the main songs that talk about church. He obviously has some issues with church folks because it is a reocurring theme in other songs in the cd, however he does justify his issues. He ends this cd with "Lets Do this Right" And he did it right with the cd.
His cd is Soul R&B without the Booty. I recommend it if your looking for a change of Pace and simply because it is an excellent piece of work. Add LYFE to your Collection. Satisfaction Guaranteed!
