Lovers Rock
: This CD is great for those of us who love Sade. If you've never heard Sade, I recommend you start with one of her older ones like Love Deluxe or Promise or Diamond Life. For the Sade fan, you will love her new songs like "By your side", "Somebody Already Broke My Heart", Lovers Rock and you will enjoy the different sound to some of the other songs like "slave song". You can hear the different influences from different genres of music, that is not heard in previous albums, in some of the new songs. All in all, a fantastic album, and one to add to the growing Sade collection.
 Sade if you're reading this, right on baby, this album is soooooo good. Please email if you're ever in need of a keyboardist or run short of new material. Sade is smmmokin! Put on this CD and leave it all behind (by your lonesome or with your lover).
I am in awe. From the opening hook of By Your Side to the vibrant colors found in the rhythms of the lowly King of Sorrows, you can't help but be drawn into Sade's ethereal web of love-misery-redemption and finally, peace. This is Sade at her finest. If you found Love Deluxe even the least bit enticing, your senses will definitely be sufficiently seduced by Lover's Rock. It is possible to get caught in the lazy, staccato movements in Immigrant and just as easy to find yourself in her shoes with Every Word's pulsing, almost palpable pain. And then will you discover as the appropriately named track closes the set, that the best discovery on the cd is when you find that It's Only Love That Gets You Through.
"Lovers Rock" is the kind of music you want to be listening to if you leave near a beach, or are planning a trip to some sunny sea-splashed locale. Sade's music and voice are so soothing and relaxing you'll wish you had a hammock to lie in with someone special. Every song rocks (or rather slowly simmers to a rewarding concoction), but I especially like "All About Our Love." I think this album is better than "The Best of Sade" (1994). If you are new to Sade's superb talent, then go out and buy "Lovers Rock" and be prepared to be swept away!
This new one from sade takes her back to the spotlight. Its hard to believe that she was off the scene for 8 years...but shes back. Sade didnt use any new producers like rodney jerkins or shekspere to be current with other artists that are out now. Instead she comes with the style everyone knows her for. This cd is a good follow up to the last cd. The best tracks on this one are: By your side, Lovers rock, Flow, immigrants, and it's only love that gets you through. Even though she didnt use any new producers on this, she used samples from a lot fo different kinds of music like reggae, hip-hop, and rock. It was mostly reggae samples that you could hear but everything works and dosent make her sound like a different artists. Overall sade played it safe and added something differnt to this cd to make it another classic. If there was more songswith a differnt kind of flow I would have given this a five but maybe next time around she will get to do it. The only way to be sure is to listen to this for yourself.
