Loveless
: A beutifully written and produced album by these four Brits. Definitive of what was going on in England in the early 90's. Has influenced a number of artists from Bob Mould to Bardo Pond. Not one song on this album stands out; they are all breathtaking. Impossible to put this disc in without listening to the whole thing. I love the way every song blends together and compliments one another. A classic.
recently, i have been going out of my way to discover some new music, and ended up on the loveless page on amazon. now, a bunch of the artists i looked up after seeing 5 star ratings weren't that special (except for dj shadow and a few others). so, needless to say, i was a bit skeptical when i saw all the ranting and raving about how amazing this cd is, and i was almost sure i'd fall into the "what do you see in this" category. so i downloaded "blown a wish" and within the first 1 or 2 seconds, i was hooked. i'll probally buy the cd today! how did this music elude me for so long? it's amazing.
I didn't appreciate this when it first came out (I forget what I was listening to instead), and I think it may be an acquired taste for some. I attempted to introduce MBV to my wife recently; she asked me within the first 3 minutes to please turn it off and never play it again. But luckily I can listen to it all I want at work. Of all the records I've heard in my life, this one has grown on me like no other... Like a previous listener said, rarely do two weeks go by that I don't feel the need for a visit to MBV's lush, sensual sonic landscape. Over the years, I've found myself completely unable to get tired of this record; if anything I like it better every time I hear it. Just a bloody masterpiece. I sure wish MBV had done, or would someday do, at least one more album for all of us MBV junkies...
MBV perfect their sound here. and i could listen to 'soon' over and over again... quite unique. quite good. here's to glide guitar!
Who could ever guess an album like this could be created? Earthshattering power mixed with blinding beauty, songs to die for and an overall production matched by noone. I am always blown away by this album, it never ever stops to amaze me. There's not one single moment on Loveless I could live without, and I know things will stay that way for years to come, if not forever. Simply put, this is the best album ever to be released! BUY!
