: I think this is a good book to help couples acknowledge the symptoms of a marriage focused on trying to get deep longings met from each other rather than from God. But the book seldom goes below the surface "fixes". It doesn't really touch the neccesary parts of love and respect that involve pursuing the heart and areas that aren't easily walked into- sin, betrayal, authenticity, and the lies we believe, etc.
 The information presented was simply common-sense, but most couples forget this in marriage counseling because of the high emotions. Great piece of work for Christian counselors!
 I just finished this book, and am impressed with the simplicity of this message. The Pink/Blue sunglasses & hearingaids clear up things in a way that no one else has come up with.

I finished this book and felt built up!
It gave me the tools and the courage to keep trying in my marriage.
I have never been more impressed with a marriage book than this one! He explains how to get off the 'Crazy Cycle' that has so many marriages stuck and spiraling down fast. With humor and practical steps Emmerson shares how to get on the 'Energizing Cycle.' Women need 'love' and men need 'respect' like the air they breathe. It's freeing to know how to truly meet your spouses deepest need and yet get your deepest need met in the process too. It's a win/win situation for everyone in the marriage! I totally reccommend this book on marriage if it's the only one you ever choose to read! Hands down!
I thought my husband and I had a "decent" marriage. I knew I would stay in my marriage, but I had begun to think "this is the best it is going to get." I thought we would continue to co-exist, but our communication was so-so, and my desire for him was waning. Then I heard the video series in a Adult Sunday class at church and it changed my mind and heart forever. I realized why my expectations were not being fulfilled, and my husband and I looked at each other after the first video with tears in our eyes. I have shared this information with so many other women, and at first they look so baffled. But once you grasp it, your life and your marriage will never be the same. I see my husband with new eyes, and look at him the way I did when we first met. That is so nice after almost 19 years of marriage. It is a great book, and we plan to share it with our soon to be married son.
