: This book is sooooooo amazing and you MUST read it now!!! Especially if you are a teenager, but either way...it was the best book! Sammie is going through so much in her life and throughout the novel, you really feel for her. I now have a new favorite author! Carolyn Mackler could not have done a better job writing this! I also felt so deeply connected to Sammie, I have so much in common with her it's scary! Between all the nyc things (like PB&CO) and even having a Grandmother in Pittsburgh...I really felt like I was reading a book that could've been written about myself. I read a lot, and this is by far the best book ever! And as an aspiring writer and out of love for the book, I am Mackler's #1 fan!READ IT!!! Love and Other Four Letter Words is a story about love, growth, change, but mostly life. Sammie Davis (the main character) moves with her mother to New York City because her parents are in a trial separation. Sammie is a strong chatacter that many girls--including me--can identify with. She learns about love--the good and bad. Her best friend, Kitty, is "experienced" with a boy who ends up cheating on her. In the beginning, Sammie wishes she could be more like Kitty, but as the novel progresses she and Kitty break apart a lot more. Read this enchanting book to find out the rest!
Here's the best part about Love and Other 4 Letter Words : Carolyn Mackler gets it right-- and by "it" I mean the intricate, volatile, joyous, maddening and rewarding experiences of adolescence for millenium teen girls. Cheers to author for recognizing the complex bond that can exist between teen girls as they seek loyalty from their friends while investigating what distinguishes them from their peers, AND for showing that it's not always your evil rival who causes you insane amounts of angst-- in fact sometimes it's your best friend. This book is smart, sassy and relevant!
This teenage girl is so smart! She knows exactly how it feels to be a teenager-Like when she says "i know i'm suposed to be in the prime of something but i don't know what." worth a read!
The book is great! I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone. It is Judy Bloom for the 2000's! Everyone can relate to Sammie's feelings and understand completely what she is going through. A definite must have!
