Love & Basketball: Music From The Motion Picture
: After seeing "Love and Basketball" this weekend and loving every moment of the movie, I think that there needs to be a Volume 2 to the soundtrack. So many songs from the movie were left off of this soundtrack. Where is Johnny Kemp's "Just Got Paid" or Kool Moe Dee's "I Go To Work" or Digital Underground's "Doowhatchulike"? These songs from back in the day (plus Maxwell's ethereal version of "This Woman's Work") were so integral to the film but they were kicked to the curb here. I must say that I'm slightly disappointed that they weren't included, but what is here is a slamming set of old and new hits. All of the new songs are bonafide winners. I am very impressed with this collection, but would be even happier with a little bit more.
I love this soundtrack as much as I love the movie. It has the best music!
As soon as I fell in love with the movie I fell in love with the sooundtrack. This soundtrack brought me back to my house party days with MC Lyte's "Lyte as a rock" and rob base's "It takes two".I felt like I was back in junior high again. However,I bought the cd mainly to hear the love song I think may be by Maxwell...the love song that was playing when the main characters had their first love scene.whoever knows the name of the artist and the song pls let me know by em at dancewiththediva@yahoo.com...otherwise the soundtrack was hot.
I loved the movie and the cd as well. I just fell is love with the both of them from the moment on. The only thing that was missing from the cd was the song by Maxwell, "This Womans Work". Other than that the cd was the bomb!
For those of you that like a little bit of the old school and new school you dont have to look any further but to this soundtrack to Love and Basketball a great mixture of old school r&b tracks from the great Al Green 's Love and Happiness to the Butter smooth Sweet Thing by Rufus and Chaka Khan still one of my personal favorite tunes from back in the day .. Still does something to me everytime i hear it.. The early days of New Jack I Like- Guy is represented here as well .. To the new school Angie Stone's unforgettable soulful rendition Of Simply Red's Holding Back The years .. Donell Jones smooth I'll Go .. To the Supergroup Lucy Pearl Dance Tonight which is truly the best cut of the newer material.. Having people really anticipating their debut album.. A little bit of the old school hip hop is well represented here with two classic tracks It Takes Two from Rob Base and Ez Rock and MC Lyte's Lyte As A Rock.. also with good efforts Bilal , Black Eyed Peas.. This is really a great soundtrack.. it's a must to any one's collection that likes a little of both worlds..Old School and New School.. To those who wondering about that song that is played during the love scene between Epps/Lathan in the movie.. The song is called A Women's Work performed by Maxwell and it can be found on his Live Unplugged CD.. The only minor criticsm i have is that track that is mentioned and New Edition's Candy Girl wasnt included in the soundtrack other than that this is truly great stuff here
