: Love songs is a collection of Classic Carpenters love ballads. With Karen singing these songs, it most certainly is NOT boring, unless of course, you don't like music. (or a PERFECT voice)Karen's yearning, soulful voice is perfectly suited to sing ballads like these.
This is the best compilation of Love Songs I have ever heard of any artist. I have all the collection of The Carpenters CDs and also some of the solo albums by Karen and by Richard Carpenters. I think that there will never be any voice like Karen's clear, smooth, sweet and tender voice. Every time I listen to her is just like she's right there besides me singing to my ear "a song (just) for me". Any person who likes soft and beautiful music should have this one. Richard is a genius and Karen's voice is awesome. We'll always love you Karen...JDM
Karen's wonderful voice can't be denied & her early death must have contributed mightily to all the warm & fuzzy feelings people feel about her life's contribution to our everyday, humdrum lives. It seems society demands that its heroes (heroines) suffer as a prerequisite for greatness. Maybe it's a blessing that she died early -- "no way" she, or any human, could have "topped" what she gave us in her short life. Most good things in life seem to be a COMBINATION of things. For the Carpenters, Karen's brother Richard contributed immensely to the sheer "prettiness" of their music & sound. Christmas is a comin' & every Christmas I listened to their Christmas Portrait album over & over. Their Christmas music is just absolutely top-notch. ...listen to the music, listen to the songs, listen to Karen's voice. And then try to say that they ain't great performances. ...this is a primo collection of some of the best music ever made by the duo...or by anyone else, for that matter. I always loved thier rendition of Sedaka's "Solitaire"...and "Goodbye to Love" is one of the greatest tunes ever recorded, in my humble opinion. This is chocked full of tunes you know all the words to and that you already love. It is truly deserving of an Amazon.com double five star rating...and that is no lie. Get it, now.
This c.d. brings out the best of Karen Carpenter and her music. Her voice is so unique. It's on the edge somewhere out there, and you just can't nail it down. She soothes and comforts you while she takes your pain and sadness. Her sad eyes and smile gives away her longing, her yearning and at last she has found contentment in Heaven.
