Here are some customer reviews of Love, Shelby : I had high hopes for this CD. Her previous effort, "I am Shelby Lynne" is great. The new CD opens with two great songs. "Trust Me" and "Bend" are Shelby at her best. But then things mostly fall apart afterwards. "Jesus on a Grayhound" is really awful. And the rest of the CD is just OK. Nothing special. After the first two songs I thought this might be a major breakthrough CD for her but most of it is puzzling and downright banal. The tacky Britney Spears meets Shania Twain cover photos almost caused me to pass on this CD. I'm sure glad I took the chance. I was aware of the excitement over "I am Shelby Lynne", but had not listened to it or any of Shelby's work. Perhaps that allowed me to have a fresh introduction. Just let me say I am very impressed. I like ALL the tracks on "Love, Shelby" and I appreciate the production by Glen Ballard. It is accomplished with an intelligence that far exceeds most of the hyped female 'new singer songwriter' drivel that is now out there in the pop and country genres. Shelby is special. After releasing probably the best album ever with I am Shelby Lynne, one would be hesitant about the follow up. Luckily for all of us this cd is almost as good as it's predecessor. While comparisions are never a good thing, it's almost impossible not to. This album is MUCH more radio friendly which is of course a smart business move. Stand outs on the cd include Trust Me, Jesus On A Greyhound, Bend, Mother. This is a must have for anyone who enjoys well crafted, written, produced and performed music. Shelby Lynnes musical talents are unmatched. i really like the followup. but after reading that there are other tracks that aren't included i wish they were on it. but it's still Shelby - "I CAN'T WAIT" for the next one. keep it real girl. After her great "I am" album a very disappointing new one. Alanis rock. Listen before you buy.
