: I was so pleased to see the reviews of this beautiful soundtrack. I first saw the movie when I was 12, and it made a huge impression on me. At times, I still hear the haunting melodies in my mind and get goose-bumps! I'm really looking forward to getting the CD and reliving a moment in Hollywood history rarely seen. Does anyone know where we can get a copy of the movie? I haven't seen it in years.
Working as I do on a busy stroke unit in the u.k. I have a lot of patients questioning an answer. Yet when I have played this l.p. they are so much happier Can anybody help me get the video as my mother would like a copy and a lot of the patients I work with would also love to see the film please please help me to make many people happy
Just like the other reviews listed, I too watched this movie many, many years ago, having a profound effect on my idea of "Shangri-La". My parents bought the soundtrack in 8-track form. I remember listened to it for endless hours. I am so happy I have now found it in CD! I think my favorite scene is the celebration of the family. To this day, I can sing the words from "Living Together, Growing Together" and remember the husband and wife with their new baby. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. I cannot wait to receive my order for this CD. I've purchased 2, one for me, the other for my parents....since family is so important to us! NOW WHERE CAN WE FIND THE VIDEO??? Anyone know ? In 1973 I was thirteen years old - I saw this movie on its release and it seems like yesterday! Today, I have read some reviews from people who feel the same as I do, all talking with feeling concerning this movie - There was also a technical review which referred to the disasterous downturn to Bacharachs career as a result of this movie, He's not doing so badly now, but this is no surprise to those of us who have listened to and loved his music for so long. To love such a movie is to love people and to dream of what we are all capable of being - yes, we have the capacity to hate - we also have the capacity to love - I favour the latter! - always have , always will. This film is for me and all of you who feel the same!
Bacharach and David's unfairly crucified movie musical score back in 1973 finally gets the respect it deserved originally with this beautiful transfer to CD. A rich score with infectious melody and FABULOUS orchestration, it is reminiscent of B&D's only score for Broadway, "Promises, Promises" in 1968 (another electric gem that needs to be reissued on CD!) "Lost Horizon" is full of those famous synchopated rhythms accompanied by a rock drummer and a full orchestra -- Bacharach heaven!
