My Ghetto Report Card
My Ghetto Report Card

Here are some customer reviews of Laugh Now, Cry Later :

A few things I would like to mention after listening to the album; There seems to be recism in the lyrics and there is nothing new or different from the older albums (meaning the melodies, the beats). Ice Cube is "old school" and you could tell from his rhymes. I thought people are living for the future not for the past, Ice Cube needs to drop the racism and stop creating anymosity. Overall the album is not that great. I recommend E-40 Ghetto Report Card (A++). Most people know of west coast because of E-40, Too Short, Mac Dre, and Snoop Dogg, NOT Ice Cube (I am from New York).

a lot of these tracks are fire .any west coast fan or ice cube fan should get this.sure, its not as good as the stuff he was puttin out back in da day,but thats no reason to hate on this album.cop this album.its hot

I have been an avid fan of hip hop for a little over twenty years. Recently, I have seen hip hop turned pop with several new acts glorifing violence and perpetuating negative black male stereo types. I was very excited to hear Ice Cube was returning to hip hop. In the past Ice Cube has brought an unique stlye and voice to hip hop. "Amerikkka's most wanted" and "the Predator" touch social and political concerns in the Black community as well as having great beats.

"Laugh Now, Cry Later" is very somber in comparison to all previous works. Cube no longer seems to have any anger at the way the world is (with an exception of a couple lines criticizing Bush). Once upon a time the urban situation in America really bothered him, and because it he had alot to say. And now almost nothing (the Dixie Chicks seem too have more societal concerns than Cube??) But maybe after making movies (and alot of money) has shown him the world isnt such a bad place anymore. He's Nearly glorifing his Ganster image to reach out to a younger generation who don't seem to show the loyalty in purchase power as the preceding one who are the staples of his fan base, myself included. (Great Ice Cube has a new cd i'm gonna buy it). It makes little sense to me to distance yourself from your core fan base who have been faithfully buying your albums for nearly 20 years to those who have been buying albums for only five years.

This album for the most part was difficult to listen to. It didn't have the original sound I'm used to. Cube wasn't saying much about the state of the world. And with track produced by lil jon, I'm sure this album will become just as forgettable as any of lil jon's albums.

Its really too bad to see the regression of Ice Cube. Besides a few songs (maybe 3), I can see this album soon becoming a filler at used CD stores.

Ice Cube deffinatly has a style that is unimatatable. he raps like he is pissed which i feel is alot more powerful wen tryin to get a message across. he doesnt realy have many guests on this cd but he still rips it. i think like every one that follows rap would think that cube is one of the godfathers of rap music. he was def the inforcer of nwa and they feel apart shortly after he left. to any one that didnt no this is the group that is credited for starting gangster rap. after he left the group he went on to put out some hip hop clasics. americas most wanted, leathal injection. its safe to say all cubes material is always classic. when i heard him on lil jons last cd i new he still had that anger and fire in him and i started lookin forward for a new cube cd.

he did not let me down with laugh now cry later. snoop was on two tracks one of wich i think is the best track on the cd produced by lil jon go to church. i dont no what it is about cube and lil jon but they work very well together. i guess the repetative beat with angrey lil jon yellin and that energetic ice cube flow mesh well. wc is on 2 tracks. one of which is with kokane. this is also a tight track if u can get passed kokaqne suckin as usual. i dnt no y west coast rappers like to put him on their songs cuss i think he ruins every one. he must be a cool dude that they like or something cuss he has no talent at all he is so anoying. but the track with just him and dub chrome and paint is real tight. grown up is a real tight song were he kind of tells what has happened in his career. im not a big skit fan but mike epps is funny as hell on track 4 it will be a skit u wont skip.

this cd is fire. to anyone that thinks cube fell of or this is just an atempt to get back in the lime light its not. he is still the same cube. the nwa cube the we be clubbin cube the to it was a good day cube. hey and who didnt love it was a good day. so what if he made so bad movies u cant dis like a hip hop icon one of the founders. he made some tight moves 2. friday in my opinion is the greatest comedy of all time. im glad to see the west coast making a comeback and ice cube leading the way yet again. buy the cd u wont be disapointed

I have been a fan of Cube for more than twelve years, and I have been waiting for a new Cube record since 2000 with War and Peace Vol.2. Let me just say that the wait was worth it. Cube brings back the real rap and teaches these youngsters how its done. His lyrics are on point and he has a real message to spred, I love the beats that he has to rap over.

My only complaint is that I would have liked a few more West Coast producers to make the beats. I love the guest spots with Snoop and of coarse WC.

I recommend this CD to any West Coast music fan or any fan of Ice Cube in general.
