Here are some customer reviews of Large Wooden Geometric Shapes Jumbo Knob 8-piece Puzzle :

The basic shapes on this are great. My son has really gotten into this puzzle. From a parental standpoint I have a couple of issues. First, the paper coating on the pieces starting peeling the first time he played with it. Second, the picutes underneath are a bit of a stretch. Overall it's the best shape puzzle we've come across, but it could use some work.

I love this puzzle. My daughter has it and I have also bought it for two of my neices. Melissa and Doug puzzles are always of great quality and workmanship. They are a great addtion to our toy room.

I bought this for my 13 month old son. He is a premmie and is behind in his congitive and motor skills. He abosultely adores it. The large nobs are very easy for small hands to grasp. This is a very thick puzzle thicker then most wood puzzles I've seen. The large thick shapes make it easy for yound children to slide the pieces into places. Within 2 days of getting this he could put one of the pieces back in. And now a month later he can do them all and match the shapes up. It is wonderful we are so pleased with this item.

Last month I got this for my baby boy who loves books and puzzles. He started off at about 18 mts. with the Baby Einstein puzzle book, which he still enjoys, but it's a little flimsy because it's made of paper. Then he got into the wooden animal puzzle that had matching pictures both on the pieces and in the board. He became so adept at those so I got this more advanced geometric shapes for him. I was amazed when I gave him the puzzle for the first time and he immediately knew how to put it all together. Then we played a memory game where I'd put all the pieces in and then I'd ask him, "Where's the boat?" and he'd have to recall by memory that it's under the trapezoid. He was thrilled with being able to pick up the right piece to find the picture I named. Then I took all the pieces out and asked him, "Which piece goes on the school bus?" and he'd have to look at the shape and place the right one in (a rectangle). Interestingly, after a week of not playing this puzzle, I brought it out again and asked him, "Where's the kite?" and he remembered that it was under the diamond shape! I highly suggest also the wooden books with magnetic pieces (great for travelling) and the finger puzzle. Just try not to lose any pieces (especially when you're out like at a restaurant)... my guy gets a little upset when he can't finish the entire puzzle! Coincidentally, my son's vocabulary exploded from 5 words at 18 mts. to about 70 words at 22 mts. I think these puzzles helped a lot!

Then this toy is for you. My 18-month old son, who isn't known for his long attention span, amuses himself with this puzzle for long spans of time several times a day. He's had the puzzle for a couple of months and knows where all the pieces go, but that doesn't stop him from taking them all out, carrying them to another part of the room (often to where I am busy doing something else) and then taking each piece back to place back in the puzzle. His twin sister is just getting into the puzzle, but she too seems mesmorized.
