Land of the Lost - The Complete First Season
: At long last, the first season of LOTL has come out on DVD, and has been given a first-class treatment by Rhino. Even when viewing the disks on a PS2, the video and audio quality are superb for a thirty-year old television series. As one of the most intelligent and intriguing Saturday morning series ever produced, the quality of episodes alone make this set worthy of purchase. But the three disks are full of many wonderful extras, including interviews with and commentaries by such luminaries of science fiction as Larry Niven, David Gerrold, Walter Koenig and Dorothy Fontana, as well as comments by the Krofft brothers, Wesley Eure (Will), and Kathy Coleman (Holly). Hopefully Spencer Milligan (Rick Marshall) will be interviewed for the upcoming second season set. A superb release that all LOTL fans will appreciate. If you miss the Sleestak, Pakuni, and Skylons of your childhood (or want to introduce them to your own children) go out and buy this set now...you won't regret it!
I loved the Land of the Lost as a kid. After watching the first season again on DVD it brought back so many memories. I am 35 years old and my 6 year old watched the first season with me. We couldn't wait to see the second season and now we are waiting for the third to come out. My little girl just loves the show. Watching her watch these shows is like watching myself all over again on Saturdays. It had to be the best show on television in the 70's! The special features on this DVD was great too! Getting to see the original cast all grown up was an experience. It is great to see a good quality programming again. Now, I can leave the room and not worry about what my daughter is watching, because it is usually the Land of the Lost!
I can't say how thrilled I am to see the Land of the Lost FINALLY coming out. I eagerly waited each Saturday morning for it to come on. It was magical, it was fun, it was one of my favorite shows. What on earth has happened to Saturday morning programming for kids? It's awful nowadays! We had it so good growing up.
I can't wait to see this show again.

My favorite character was Chaka. To this day, I can't stick my hand into fire without saying, "Chaka no like fire!"
It's a three-disc set containing all the episodes of the first season. That's reason enough to get excited, but Rhino is apparently giving this the star treatment. Extras will include interviews and commentaries by writers (D.C. Fontana, Walter Koenig, Larry Niven, David Gerrold) and actors (Wesley Eure, Kathy Coleman, Philip Paley.) Gerrold tells how the series was created, the underlying plan, and even discusses an episode that was never filmed, "The Littlest Sleestak."
