Labyrinth: From The Original Soundtrack Of The Jim Henson Film
: Most reviews of David Bowie's life erroneously leave out his wonderful work in film--such as "Labyrinth" and "The Hunger." Bowie lends an air of true magic to "Labyrinth", both with his screen presence and with his music and haunting voice. He is a genius, in the real sense of the word. Anyone captured by this movie/soundtrack once will never be the same.
Some movies transcend the times and are cherished for what they are: The Wizard of Oz is one of those. Others, like Labyrinth, revel in their time period. In the decade of pure cheese (it was the height of slasher flicks, for crying out loud!), Labyrinth stood out as a marvel of technological wizardry, and its soundtrack (featuring star David Bowie, the king of 80s cheese) boasts some nice synth-heavy music, along with my personal favorite from the film, Dance Magic. Chilly Chilly, reminiscent of some Devo song, also stands out on the disc. Like the movie, the CD is a lot of fun, taken at face value. If you want great music, though, try Chopin. Personally, I like them both.
...and David Bowie was already the sexest man in my world, still is. I grew up on this movie, and having the music is like having a piece of my childhood. Bowie's singing in as intrancing as he is in the movie. I don't think anyone who saw this movie could ever forget 'Magic Dance', and while I must admit the song is better in the movie (the goblin voices are different), the joy will premenaite through the room when this song come on. The whole CD is bound to do so, so good luck.
I bought this CD on Friday, and I love it already! My favorite song is 'As The World Falls Down', but I love 'Magic dance', too! Anyone who has seen the movie needs the soundtrack! It good even if you haven't seen the movie! Buy a copy and join the club!!!
Labirinth is the dream of many people around 25 years that saw the movie when were 13 or 15. When you first see the movie, you just love it and need to see it again and again. When you hear the music is just the same feeling as if you were watching the movie. The dream is back.
