Here are some customer reviews of La Dona : This is Teena Marie at her best - her voice has never been better and the song selection is old-school and modern. You can actually understand every word! This is music that will have you tapping your foot, bobbing your head and trying to sing along. I have only had the cd for two hours and have called friends from far and near to tell them that they need to rush right out and buy it. I really enjoy listening to this album it's like Teena Marie never left!!! Her album sounds like that R&B WE used to jam to back in the late 80's early 90's new jack swing!! You go girl!! I'm tellin' ya all need to get this album I'm at a lost of words. She's never missed a beat. What a breath of fresh air to hear a true singing voice not drowned out by the musicians. She sounds the same as she did back in the 80's. This CD HAS to win a Contemporary R&B Grammy. I can't name a favorite but I did listen to the CD 5 times already. Also from the pictures with the CD, she's gotten younger looking! I will check her out on tour. I JUST ORDERED THE NEW TEENA MARIE CD AND IT IS IT'S ALL OF THAT AND THEN SOME...TEENA MARIE IS DEFINATELY BACK............TRUST!!!ORDER THIS CD. there's an interesting trend going on in music, right now, of releasing contemporary albums on established artists. this month, def soul classics released their first album featuring celestial diva patti labelle. loretta lynn is collaborating with the white stripes. and teena marie is on cash money records. has the world gone mad?!? no...they've finally clued in that there's absolutely no reason to put these mature, talented women out to pasture. _la dona_ is an excellent example of this trend. like aretha franklin's mid-90s release _a rose is still a rose_, one can't help but feel that this is the album that lady t would have released were she a new artist in 2004. what is so impressive in an artist like alicia keys flows effortlessly from teena marie throughout the album. i agree that it's impossible to distinguish stand-out tracks because it's such a consistent album, but i have a special place in my heart for "the mackin' game" because medusa is such a fierce, unsigned, l.a. based m.c. and mc lyte is the godmother of rap. in fact, all of the collaborations are well-executed and unintrusive, unlike most hip-hop music, today. welcome back, lady tee. please don't ever leave us, again!
