It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie
: This was a wonderful movie. It made me laugh and made me cry. I was so happy that the muppets had made a return appearance. Maybe because I was a child of the 80s, every afternoon watching the Muppet Show, I'm sentimental. I loved Robin as the Green Fairy in Moulin Scrooge. I got a kick out of the Cirque Du Soleli knock off, especially since it was currently in the IMAX here in town and I had just seen it. It was a good family movie that I would encourage anyone to share with their children.
I saw this movie for the first time on TV last night and was very disappointed. This is not a funny movie, it left me rather depressed. The acting is sub-par (Joan Cussack over-acts), the story sketchy, and overall it's just not what a Muppet movie should be. I should also point out this is not a movie for young children. The humor (what little there is) will be lost on them and the overall story is too dark. If you want a good holiday Muppet story, then the Muppet Family Christmas (albeit edited)is a far better choice. Other good Muppet holiday fare to watch is A Muppet Christmas Carol and Christmas Eve on Seseme Street.
I eagerly waited for the first showing of the new Muppet Movie but as our favourite characters appeared on the screen, something seemed wrong. Miss Piggy's voice had changed, so had that of Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle. What has happened to Frank Oz? Also, even though his name was mentioned, was Jerry Nelson actually performing Robin, Lew Zealand or Statler (a role he took over after Richard Hunt had passed away)? I'm not sure he did. What has happened to the original Muppet performers. It seems that only Dave Goelz is left from the original line-up. Since Jim Henson's death the Muppet family is slowly falling apart and I'm not sure that they can put it back together. I was impressed by the Muppet Christmas Carol and I was also impressed by the way Steve Whitmire had taken to the role of Kermit so well but it's a real pity that the standard has dropped. I'm just thankful it hasn't dropped to the point they needed Snoop Dogg to try and boost ratings...
The muppets rocked my muppet world once again in this haliriously funny and heart-warming christmas story. Celebrate the holidays with the enite muppet, sesame street, and fraggle rock gang in this musical masterpeice.
The Muppet Christmas Carol is a Holiday masterpiece, always to be one of my favorite christmas movies. Even though this one was not as serious, and lacked on acting somewhat the comedy was node crude like some "family" or "childrens" movies out today. I esspecialy liked Rizzo being a rat on Fear Factor. This is a must see Muppet movie!!
