Invitation to the Dance
: ultraspank did almost the exact same thing with their cd PROGRESS almost 3 years ago. this cd has 1 good song-step into the sideshow, and 1 decent song-fallingdown. If you wanna hear the original stuff go buy PROGRESS, or go buy American Head Charge instead.Anything but 40 below summer.
I heard about these guys on a site where some of my favorite metal bands where listed, so I downloaded "Falling Down" which I thought was very well done, and my brother ordered the cd for me. It was diffrent for what I thought they would be like, songs like "Wither Away", "Power Tool" and "Drown" were not what I was expecting in this Album, which is good, these are some of my favorite songs. Max Illidge has a unique voice, and he does a lot with it, and the choruses are good too. This is their major label release that has some tracks of their previous albums, if you like these guys, definitely check out their other stuff. If you haven't heard of them, step into the sideshow, you'll be glad you did.
This is an extraordinary cd. The band's ability to move from crushing brutality to beautifully textured melodies within a song is mind blowing. Great writing, playing and vocal performance make this a unique contribution to the nu-metal genre. BUY IT!!!
This band is amazing. The only song that sounds anything remotely close to RAPCORE would be step into the sideshow, but even that is a good song, This band comes with the energy, and leaves with you wanting more. I want their other albums now, SideShowFreaks and Rain, I hope I can find them, I cant get enough of this band.
With every Nu-Metal band and their mothers getting a record contract, and releasing less than stellar major label debuts (look up StereoMud, Saliva and Insolence) it is extremaly easy to take one look at 40 Below Summer, shake your head, and dismiss them. BUT.. there is one key element that should attract the average Nu-Metal head out there who's looking to find the "next big thing". This album was executivly produced by M. Shawn Crahan... a.k.a. Clown "#6" from Slipknot.. the guy who picks his "brain" in the Left Behind video. Anyway... with his help of bringing Mudvayne to the masses, I was more than willing to give 40 Below Summer a chance. After a friend had showed me "We The People", I was amazed. A rock song, so heavy, and filled with screams, has a Bridge with acoustic guitars in it. "So what?" you say? Name me one Nu-Metal band whose done that (with the exception of Cold). Thank you. "Invitation To the Dance" is awesome. It's not the most original music out there, as you will find out in less than awesome tracks "Drown" and "Rejection", but the other 10 songs more than make up for it. The vocalist is awesome, the guitar work is genius, and the drummer is RUTHLESS! I'm talking Joey Jordison mixed with Danney Carey Ruthless. The album is a MUST for anyone looking to find a band that is well on it's way to becoming a well established group.
