Here are some customer reviews of
Invincible Summer
: I am in awe of this album. It is perfect in its simplicity and marked by the grace of a voice unlike any other. Lose yourself in this album with a tall gin and tonic on your back porch with your feet propped up and watch the sun go down on a hot July day. Summerfling is amazing and truly brings the album its flavor...while When We Collide takes you back to the contact and heat you feel when that unrequited unknown love finds you powerless and at your most vulnerable...This is the first grammy worthy album of the year! It is wonderful to see artists refusing teen pop in favor of true talent....
k.d. lang used to be my favorite sulking music. If I was having a bad day, there was nothing better than popping "Constant Craving" into my CD player. I would wallow in my sorrows as I listened to lang's melancholy wail. Afterward, I always felt better. k.d. sulks no more on Invincible Summer, her first album of original material since 1995. Instead, lang explores the hazy, crazy, euphoria of summer, romance, and, well summer romance. Each of the 11 songs has lyrics kitschy as a 50s sitcom, breezy instrumentals, all supported by lang's expressive vocals. Invincible Summer manages to create the musical equivalent of lazy July days under the hot sun. Not lang's most prolific album by any means, but it's fun and isn't that what summer is supposed to be all about? Invincible Summer is definately not a pouting compliment to a bad mood but lang mangaes to keep one thing the same: listening will definately make someone feel better than he or she did before. Invincible indeed.
Anyone who fell in love with K.D. Lang's way of expressing her love for all good things and people in her life and the world around her will also fall in love with "invincible Summer". True, honest and beautiful feelings turned into wonderful prose and music. K.D.'s love, she is sharing with us listeners, is truly invincible.
kd lang's newest cd is what you might expect and is unfortunately predictable. If you listen closely to the songs, you will hear some similar tunes that you just might start humming only to discover same tume, different words. While the cd is an attempt at originality, many of the songs are just mediocre. Unlike her earlier works, this could be considered comparable to Drag.
Ms Lang's voice is the best there is in the world of music, and this CD proves why. Well worth it. I've seen her live 3 times (so far) and would see her again & again. she belts out a song like no other female can do. Her range is stupendous. I would recommend this for any k d lang fan.!
