Inu-Yasha - Season 1 Boxed Set
: First, this collection contains episodes 1-27--essentially, the first 9 DVDs you could buy separately. The price is great for the value. Second, I love Inu Yasha. Sword and sorcery, action and adventure, romance and comedy, anime and Takahashi, all in one delicious collection. I love the way history and legend are entwined in this fantasy story of a half dog-demon, a time travelling teenager, a lecherous monk, a tomboy demon hunter, a priestess back from the dead, and the twisted creature Naraku that has poisoned and played with all their lives. The plot is detailed, enjoyable, and carefully written. This is yet another classic by Takahashi, and one that you should own.
With Inuyasha going on it's fourth season now (at least in america), and three movies, it's only natural that anyone just getting into Inuyasha should get this Season 1 box set. For the money charged for three episodes on each DVD (Usually a little over $20.00), the price for the entire first season is a very good deal. This is not the best season of Inuyasha (Season 3 is the best), but it is still an excellent season.
It starts out with a teenage girl Kagome (a typical silly teenager no doubt)falling into a well that can take her 500 years back into the past of fuedal Japan where she meets Inuyasha a half demon. He is half demon half human, who wouldn't want to be one? Inuyasha doesn't because he wants the shikon jewel so he can make himself full demon. When Kagome shatters it, it is up to her and Inuyasha to find the shards of it.
Demons of all kinds use them for more power, as each one contains power on there own. Inuyasha's brother Sessohmaru has his mind set on killing his brother, but at the same time seems to enjoy fighting him. A young fox demon Shippo (he is so cute) joins the cast early on, and eventually the monk and perverted Mirouku. The main villian of the series is Naruku, a real evil demon with a very strong storyline as the whole show has. A demon slayer Sango doesn't come in until the last episodes (27 Episodes In All), but she comes into later seasons pretty every episode, so don't be dissapointed by her little part in Season 1.
All in all, Inuyasha has great characters, and hysterical humor between Kagome and Inuyasha lightens up the darkness of the series. Even the less important characters such as Kikyo who used to be in love with Inuyasha and died, and the old Priestess woman are great characters. The first 27 Episodes of Inuyasha will blow anyone away, as anyone who has even heard of Inuyasha has seen. Normal Animes have run anywhere from 13 Episodes to 27 Episodes at Average, but Inuyasha is nearly over 100 now, and still going. Truly if you have the money don't wait for Seasons 2-4 box sets, because this series is worthit. If you at all enjoy Season 1, keep going and purchase the rest of the series will no hesitation. Be sure to pick up the three movies too, because they are also excellent.
Season 1 on DVD is a must-have for any InuYasha fan. To find out or remind yourself how it all began there's nothing better. 27 episodes, 1st movie trailers, textless opening and ending songs, character relations chart... It's all there! Plus the sound and image quality doesn't get much better than that. I've bought it and it left me thirsty for more with it's action and humourous "sit boy!"'s. It's worth it!
All I can really say about this is that Inuyasha is probably the best anime out there, the story the characters and their interactions are all great. It has humor, action, and romance all wraped into one. Inuyasha is the best, if you like any of the ones that you might have seen on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network late at night then you should definately buy this dvd set. It explains everything that you might not know about from the ones you saw on TV. A+
I started watching Inuyasha last year because i just started high school and a few new friends i made told me I should. Ever since the first episode I saw, its been my favorite show. The story line is excellent and so is the animation and audio. Theres something about it that I just love. It makes me feel good when I watch it. I would reccomend that any Inuyasha fan buy this and all other Inuyasha DVDs. I have the movies in Japanese and I would reccomend buying them all.
