Here are some customer reviews of
In Your Honor
: This is the best Foo's album to date. The opening 5 tracks on the rock CD blow you away and the accoustic tracks are sublime.
You must buy this CD it must surely be the best rock album of 2005!
This is probably a good cd, but I use an iPod and RCA is retarted for making it like this, this is not against the cd its against RCA, i bet the cd is very good.
I see no reason why I have to buy music twice - once for my stereo and again for my iPod. I will not do it.
This is my favourite album of 2005, the Rock and Acoustic side are both amazing. 'No Way Back' is my pick off the Rock and 'Over and Out' is my pick off the Acoustic disc. The only weak song I feel is 'Resolve', it just doesn't fit with the rest of the rock CD.
Over all though, I give 5 stars.
The Foo Fighters have a long history now of bringing us awesome music, plugged-in and chock full with screaming guitars and the very best of lyrics. With their fifth album, In Your Honor, this group does not fail to disappoint us! The CD rocks hard and yet offers us many otherworldly, soft and thoughtful lyrics. Foo Fighter fans are going to be really pleased with a generous 2 CD set that will leave you yelling and begging-for more!
The first CD of the two CD set REALLY rocks hard and hits the ground running with two awesome songs, "In Your Honor" and "No Way Back." The title track, "In Your Honor," starts off with the incredible lyrics "Can You Hear Me/Hear Me Screaming?" Mind blowing lyrics on this title track, guys! It grabs the listener and pulls them right into the right frame of mind for this awesome two CD set! "No Way Back" almost seems to flow out of "In Your Honor" to give us a one-two punch of POW! that makes you already anxious for more! "DOA" and "Free Me" are also two more songs that really rock! Look for it! "The Last Song" is about the ending of a love with raw emotion and "Resolve" has a great rhythm; and there's a really interesting track called "Resolve." "Resolve" goes at a slightly slower pace, especially for the first CD of this set, but make no mistake-this is a true rock song with feeling, depth and soul. "The Deepest Blues Are Black" is one of my favorite songs here-the raw emotion is so in your face; this must have taken courage to write. The first CD ends strong with the track called "End Over End." A must have for Foo Fighters fans and fans of great rock everywhere!
The exceptionally great thing about this two CD set is that the Foo Fighters have worked so incredibly hard to create a whole extra second CD that clearly demonstrates their versatility and unique talent. While the first CD rocks hard and strong, the second CD is more mellow and acoustic. Nevertheless, it is no less fascinating and enjoyable! The first track on the second CD is entitled "Still." "Still" is a beautiful, more acoustic track that from the very beginning leads us into a stark contrast to the first CD although the thoughtful lyrics and honesty are still very much there! Talk about a band being able to do it all! Hehehe Indeed, the song "Miracle" has, at the beginning, an introductory musical arrangement that very vaguely sounds like the band called America! "Miracle" is a triumphant, joyous yet peaceful song, a true ballad in every sense of the word. The two songs "Friend Of A Friend" and "Over And Out" are especially thoughtful and passionate. "Virginia Moon" and "Cold Day In The Sun" have impressive musical arrangements, too. And how's about that song, "Another Round?" It offers a special and creative mix of harmonium, harp, and mandolin. "Cold Day In The Sun" also has Taylor Hawkins doing lead vocals. With the final track, "Razor," the music is soft and peaceful, especially at the beginning. Nevertheless, this is a strong song to end the double album, involving confrontation and honesty about a relationship.
The Foo Fighters include Dave Grohl (vocals, guitar, drums); Taylor Hawkins (vocals, drums); Chris Shiflett (guitar); Nate Mendel (bass instrument). They also work very well with their peers on this two CD set; and this enhances the quality of the outcome. Look for such greats as Norah Jones on both vocals and piano; Josh Homme and Joe Beebe helping out on guitar; John Paul Jones working the mandolin and the piano; Petra Haden playing violin; Danny Clinch on harmonica; Rami Jaffe on keyboards; and Nick Raskulinecz playing both double bass and bass guitar.
All in all, this rather impressive two CD set, In Your Honor shows that a tough as nails musical strike and skillful songwriting do not have to be separated in any way. The Foo Fighters brings us a generous double CD set that once again proves their unique talent, versatility and brilliance. This is a golden nugget shining brightly, folks! Foo Fighters, great job-and give us more very soon, please!
