: As a dedicated fan of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo and having been at their concerts every summer for the last 10 years or so, it was a thrill to hear that they were working on a new album. Then hearing the new songs in concert was a bigger thrill. Hearing these songs on their Summer Vacation cd was incredible. So, we have waited 5 years for this album, heard a good amount of it live and all I can say is.......IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!!! The different treatment of the songs we already have on Summer Vacation are a testament to their combined creative genuis. Pat's voice has gotten stronger, fuller and more amazing then when she first burst on the scene. Stand out songs include the title track, I Won't, Sorry and Broken Hearted. But, the song that will always remain my favorite is Please Don't Leave Me. An instant classic from the first time I heard it live and even better here. The organ line and Pat singing counterpoint to herself is another in ongoing thrills. With this album Pat and Neil have solidified their rightful place in rock history but have also proven their writing talents are as strong as her voice and gittar playing. Keep rocking guys. And everyone reading this.......GO buy this cd. You will not be disappointed!!!
Well after all this time, I have been waiting for this release from Pat Benatar, and finally here it is, Neil and Pat are one,, and they can still put out the best music ever. A definite must for anyone that is a Pat Benatar fan.
I knew from first look at the cover artwork that this was going to be one high voltage, kick-[butt] CD. I remember buying my first PB album back in 1979, and with one listen of "GO", I felt transported back to my high school days with memories of such classics as "In the Heat of the Night" and "Crimes of Passion." This CD has everything a Pat Benatar fan could ask for. Electrifyingly driven by Spyder, Pat soars on the soon to be classics "Go" and "Girl." My favorite track, as I write, "In my Dreams." This is one haunting tune, I love it! I saw Pat and Neil on their Summer Vacation Tour and was fortunate enough to hear a few of the new tunes earlier this year. If you haven't got the "Summer Tour" DVD, buy it now!
Pat returns with the most rockin' album since "Precious TIme". This is definitely not 80's retro rehash. It has a fresh production through out the entire project. Pats voice is in A+ condition. Standout tracks- Go, Sorry, Tell Me, Please dont leave me, and brokenhearted. Do yourself a favor, and buy this cd. It's great to see one of the true women in rock return with such a stellar project.
On 8/07/03, I was lucky enough to sit in the front row of Pat's Houston show (Neil, thanks for the guitar pick!) and I won a spot backstage getting a photo with Pat (thanks Pat!). It was a wonderful night! I was also able to buy "Go" at the concert, before the release date, so I've had a few days to listen. I immediately loved the first 5 songs plus the 8th, but it took a few listens to fully appreciate the entire CD...which is how long it took for me to appreciate my favorite Pat Benatar CD, "Wide Awake In Dreamland." Fans are going to be in for a surprise with "Go," it may end up being my favorite Pat CD of all time. The title track is amazing and it doesn't stop there, some other highlights are "Brave," "I Won't," "Have It All," "Sorry," "Out Of The Ruins" (such a great song, I felt like I was living what she was singing, amazing), and "Tell Me." She's been playing "Girl" in concert for a few years and it didn't grab me nor does it grab me now, but believe me, this is the Pat CD to have...I just hope she promotes it on TV, because her tour is ending and radio stations have not been Pat friendly since "All Fired Up." Many think that Pat's been gone, but she has produced some wonderful songs like "Everybody Lay Down," the gorgeous and heartbreaking "Somebody's Baby" and many others in the 90's. If you don't have 'em yet, try to find "Seven The Hard Way," "Wide Awake In Dreamland," and "Gravity's Rainbow," these are highly underrated CD's that radio didn't give a chance and most of the fans turned their back on Pat when her material started to mature and really say something in the mid 80's. Lastly, if you recently bought "Say You Will" by Fleetwood Mac, then get this one. Neil is to Pat's music what Lindsey Buckingham is to Fleetwood Mac. Both men take the music and escalate the material into something that other producer's cannot even touch.
